Whale Watching Cruise in Mirissa
Most whale watching cruises pick up tourists from several locations in the south including Koggala. You will leave your villa or hotel early in the morning to embark on a quest to look for whales. Sign up for a cruise that offers breakfast onboard for a more pleasurable experience. Strap on your lifejacket and brace yourself to catch glimpses of the famous blue whales, sperm whales, humpback whales, fin whales, and even killer whales. While whales are a little hard to spot, dolphins on the other hand like to frolic in the salty waters unperturbed by humans. Sometimes schools of flying fish hop, skip and jump across the ocean in full view of eager humans.
Whale Watching By Air From Koggala Airport
Your whale watching tour by air will most likely include breathtaking views of the coast along the Dondra Lighthouse in Galle and much more. You’ll board the aircraft from the Koggala airport and following a safety briefing you’ll be on your way, up up and away. As soon as the crew sights whales, they will descend down about 600 feet to let you get a closer look at the majesty of whales. By air, you’ll reach the area where whales are prominent within 10 to 15 minutes. Make sure that you enjoy every minute of the flight from your vantage point.
