Best Beaches Near Koggala
With luxurious, tourist friendly amenities on the rise, the south of Sri Lanka is fast becoming a veritable villa destination. Wijaya Beach Talpe
Just 20 minutes from Sea Heart House on Koggala Lake, you’ll find the popular Wijaya Beach. One of the best locations for swimming in the protected natural rock pool and a great place to see Sea Turtles up close and personal. Just please remember they are wild animals you shouldn’t feed them or touch them, even if locals who are trying to profit from tourists say you can.
Kabalana Beach
Kabalana Beach is the closest beach where you can learn to surf and relax on the golden sandy beach. Kabalana Beach is popular with families, surfers and holidaymakers soaking up rays during the hot sunny days.
Jungle Beach, Unawatuna
The best time to visit this shaded beach is from 8:30 am in the morning up until 10 am. During this time you can pretty much have the beach to yourself. The beach is a crescent-shaped sandy stretch below a green hill. You’ll have to climb down this small hill to reach the Jungle beach. There is a shack that sells fruit juice and few necessities to beachgoers in the corner of the beach. Apart from that and a few sunbeds, the beach consists is pretty much of just shaded sand, salty waters, and shallow waters.

Ahungalla Beach (near Bentota)

Ahungalla beach is famous for it’s out of this world sunsets. If you are in Sri Lanka during the monsoon season though, don’t plan on swimming in Ahungalla for the sea tends to get rough. On other days, it is safe. Visit the beach of an evening and stay to capture the sunset in your memory and your pictures.
Hikkaduwa
1 hour 30 minutes from Sea Heart House
Hikkaduwa is a very popular tourist destination in Sri Lanka with a beach that stretches for miles, fantastic restaurants and a popular surf break for intermediate and advanced surfers.
